Like a lot of people, I'm considering my options following the recent developments at Tumblr. I had a Dreamwidth account when the site first launched, and can't believe I'm back here again!

2019 Goals February Check-in
Let's see how I'm doing with these goals...
1. Travel more
I went to London for a few days, will be in Chicago in April and back in London in July, so this is going well so far.
2. Read twenty books
I've read seven, so I'm 35% through this goal after only two months. This one is going well!
3. Watch 120 movies
I've watched 11; that's 9% of my goal. Must do better...
4. Get a better job
I had an interview in January for a job in another department at my company. The interview went well, but then the positions were cancelled so it was all a waste of time. That was a blow, I must admit.
5. Another 150k of writing
I've done 26,798 so far. That's 17.9% of the target, so this is going well, too.
Overall, I've made a good start to 2019 and am pretty pleased with my progress on these goals!

2019 Goals
I've been meaning to write this post since January 1st, and I'm finally getting around to it.
I don't do resolutions, so instead I have goals for 2019. These are in no particular order.
1. Travel more
I started 2018 still in Japan and moved back to the UK in April. Due to settling back in, finding a job and buying my car, I didn't manage to travel at all. Now that I'm back on my feet and settled, I want to travel again.
2. Read twenty books.
I managed to read fifteen in 2018, so I'm upping the challenge for this year. I'm tracking this goal on Good Reads
3. Watch 120 movies
I watched 105 in 2018, so this is another challenge I'm increasing. I'm also trying to watch more movies for the first time, instead of just rewatching old favourites. I'm tracking this one on Letterboxd
4. Get a better job
My preference is a promotion within my current company and office as it's a good place to work. If that doesn't seem like it will work out, then I'll start looking elsewhere.
5. Another 150k of writing
I did 185k last year, but that was with a few months of unemployment and more free time. I think that 150k will be a challenge, but an achievable one. I pledged this word count over at
getyourwordsout so hopefully that will help me stay on track, too.
I want to try and revisit this list at the end of each month and hopefully I'll have some progress to report, but if I don't, then at least there's another eleven months in the year to catch up!

2018: Writing summary
My first year writing Kylux and my first year writing anything after a five year hiatus. I didn't expect to write as much as I did!
Total published word count: 188,802
My unfinished folder (a combination of WIPs and things that I got bored with and will never work on again) probably adds up to around 25k.
( Multi-chaptered stories )
( One-shots )
( Kylux Adjacent )
⭐️2019 Goals⭐️
For 2019, I’ve signed up to the
getyourwordsout challenge and am aiming for 150k. That’s less than 2018, but I did have several months in 2018 when I was out of work and had more free time. I think that 150k will be challenging for me this year!

Writing resources
I've been doing some research this evening, so I thought that I would share the wealth!
Here are some prompt/idea communities on Dreamwidth that are all active. They're treasure troves of challenges and prompts!
prompthell
Lists of prompts; some are just words, others are sentences.
fffc
Regular prompts and they're currently running an advent calendar prompt.
picture_prompt_fun
Picture prompts! They're also running an advent calendar prompt.
dailyprompt
Does exactly what it says on tin; posts prompts daily.
getyourwordsout
This is a writing challenge community where you set a goal for 2019. You can either choose a word count pledge or a habit (number of days writing) pledge.

Do you have any ideal situations for writing (or drawing!)? Are there any places, methods or times that make it easier to write?
For me, I have to write on my laptop; handwriting or using my tablet don't work as well. When it comes to planning a story, however, I have to handwrite it. I can't brainstorm and plan out scenes on my laptop as easily.
I usually have music playing as I write. I choose artists and albums that I know inside out so it's easy for me to tune them out and have them just become a constant background music.
I tend to write better in the evening too, for some reason.
How about you guys?

Ficlet: All Over Again
I thought I'd christen my Dreamwidth with a little ficlet that jumped into my mind! I'll crosspost it to AO3 in a few days.
All Over Again
Rating: Mature
Word count: 1,209
Pairing: Armitage Hux, Kylo Ren
Tags: modern AU, brief discussions of sex, Hux being dumb
Summary: Hux and Kylo have a one-night stand. Hux knows that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results, but he still can't help himself where Kylo is concerned.

More ideas than time...
When you have a list of half-developed story ideas that are more than enough to keep you busy for a couple of years, how do you decide where to start?
I feel like I should write them out on post-it notes, pin them to the wall and then blindly throw a dart at them.
